(September 19, 2009-Hong Kong) Hong Kong Disneyland Resort together with the People’s Liberation Army’s (PLA) Hong Kong Garrison today invited about 80 senior citizens, who were born in 1949, and children, who were born in October, to visit the PLA Hong Kong Garrison barracks on Ngong Shuen Chau (Stonecutters Island) to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the People’s Republic of China. After the visit, the PLA joined the participants to enjoy a magical afternoon at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.
Hong Kong Disneyland Resort Managing Director Andrew Kam along with Disney VoluntEARS, the elderly and the children joined Zeng Qingnian, Major General and The Deputy Political Commissar of the PLA Hong Kong Garrison and PLA members at a solemn flag-raising ceremony. The group then enjoyed gymnastic demonstrations and a performance by the PLA Orchestra. Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse were also in attendance to enjoy the celebrations. After a series of performances, the People's Liberation Army opened their naval ships and barracks for the visitors.
Zeng Qingnian, Major General, The Deputy Political Commissar of PLA Hong Kong Garrison said, “Today, it is meaningful that Hong Kong Disneyland Resort has joined hands with the PLA to celebrate PRC’s 60th anniversary through a community event. We believe this can bring the PLA's Hong Kong Garrison and the Hong Kong people closer and enhance our friendship."
