Hong Kong Disneyland Appoints Managing Director

BURBANK, Calif. (August 14, 2008) –Walt Disney Parks and Resorts announced today the appointment of Andrew Kam as managing director for Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (HKDL).


Andrew Kam, a marketing veteran in the region, will be responsible for managing the daily operations of HKDL as well as driving the business growth of the Resort, which comprises a theme park and two hotels with 1,000 rooms and employs more than 5,000 Cast Members.


Jay Rasulo, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, said the appointment is part of HKDL’s efforts to ensure that the project seizes market opportunities in this part of the world. Kam brings 20 years of management experience in the China market, a valuable asset to the future development of HKDL.


“Andrew’s track record and expertise will complement Hong Kong Disneyland’s strong management team, which has substantial theme park operations experience and the passion to cement the Resort’s place as the region’s premier family tourism destination,” said Mr Rasulo.


Before joining HKDL – Disney’s first theme park in

China - Kam was Deputy General Manager and Marketing & Sales Director for COFCO Coca-Cola Beverages Ltd, a joint venture between China Cereals, Oils and Foodstuffs Import and Export Corporation (COFCO) and The Coca-Cola Company. He was responsible for its Coca-Cola marketing and sales functions in 14 franchised markets across China, ranging from mature markets such as Tianjin to developing areas such as Xinjiang.


After starting his career as sales manager for a Canadian company in

Hong Kong, he joined Coca-Cola China Ltd in 1988He has worked in various marketing and operation functions in locations such as Hong Kong, Tianjin, Shanghai, and Beijing, working his way up to General Manager of Operations for the North and South-west China regions.


In 2000, he joined the Hong Kong Tourism Board as its Director of Mainland China and Chief Representative in China, based in Beijing. In 2001, Swire Coca-Cola Bottling Company appointed him Marketing and Sales Director, managing its Coca-Cola business in Fujian province, before his role was expanded with COFCO Coca-Cola Beverages Ltd.


Kam graduated from DalhousieUniversity in Canada achieving Bachelor of Commerce (Hon.) degree in 1984 and Master of Business Administration degree in 1986.
