Inaugural tour for 100-plus XRL guests to experience flexible travel

(Hong Kong – September 23, 2018)  Hong Kong Disneyland Resort (HKDL) opened “Magic Gateway” Guest Service Center at West Kowloon Station, on the same day as the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link (XRL) commenced service, offering guests arriving on the XRL a series of attentive services unique to Disney. HKDL believes that guests from the mainland, especially those from central and southern China, would enjoy more flexible, convenient and affordable travel with XRL, thanks to increased connectivity between Hong Kong and the extensive national high-speed rail network. The newly set up Guest Service Center at West Kowloon Station would extend guests’ magical journey to the moment they arrived in Hong Kong.

Samuel Lau, managing director of HKDL; Linda Choy, vice president of communications and public affairs; and Damien Lee, vice president of operations created a magical moment for the arriving guests with a special appearance of Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse.

In-town check-in service for easy travel

The new “Magic Gateway” Guest Service Center, located at the arrival hall of West Kowloon Station, provides in-town check-in, baggage transfer and free shuttle bus service especially for guests with a reservation at any of the three HKDL themed hotels. Guests can arrange to have their baggage delivered to the hotels they are staying at and enjoy hassle-free travel at downtown Hong Kong. In addition, the Guest Service Center will provide the latest HKDL information and offers, as well as electronic park ticket purchase service.

Samuel Lau, managing director of HKDL, said, “As an international one-stop resort destination in the region, HKDL is loved by guests from around the world. Last year, about 30% of guests at the park came from the mainland. As the opening of the XRL Hong Kong section introduces more flexible and convenient transportation options, we are capturing the opportunity by strengthening the promotion of HKDL’s magical experiences and products to attract more guests from mainland China, especially from the cities along the national high-speed rail network such as Changsha, Wuhan and Fuzhou.”

“We offer abundant entertainment offerings throughout the year, combined with the heartfelt services available at “Magic Gateway” Guest Service Center that opened today, HKDL would be an ideal destination for short-haul and weekend staycation when traveling on the XRL,” Lau said.

Yang’s family from Guangzhou visits Hong Kong and HKDL several times every year. The family made special arrangement to travel on the first XRL trains to Hong Kong today and reserved a room at Disney Explorers Lodge. “We like to come to Hong Kong because it’s simple and easy. With the opening of XRL, we could go directly from Guangzhou to downtown Hong Kong. We can even check-in at HKDL’s guest service center and have our baggage delivered to the hotel. That really made traveling with our kid much easier. We can make better use of our time when planning a staycation at HKDL.”

Inaugural tour for 100-plus XRL guests to experience flexible travel

In addition to the opening of “Magic Gateway” Guest Service Center, HKDL arranged “XRL+HKDL” inaugural tour with Guangzhou- and Shenzhen-based travel agencies, taking more than 100 guests from various Guangdong areas on the XRL to Hong Kong and experience a fun-filled day at HKDL. Sammy Phu, HKDL’s Ambassador, Donald Duck and Daisy Duck welcomed the tour members at the resort and showed them through HKDL’s entertaining experiences. Guests on the inaugural tour said they could travel more conveniently and flexibly with shortened traveling time, and enjoy an exceptional journey at HKDL.
